I'm now on the Paris level and I just stopped for a while to write this post.<br />
<br />
Basically, Millionaire Tycoon is a board game on iPhone/iPod Touch. Its goal is to eliminate the computer players by making them go bankrupt. Like in Monopoly, you have to toss the dice, walk the necessary number of steps and you can purchase land and upgrade buildings. Each time another player lands on your property, you get paid for rent.<br />
<br />
I find that the items of Millionaire Tycoon makes it so much fun and exciting. Some items include DIRECTIONAL ARROWS that can control the direction of the players at corners, BOMB that makes a player lose 3 turns, DEMOLISH that destroys the property on the land and ATTORNEY that lets you own land and property of another player. Cool, huh?<br />
<br />
The game also has a stock trade system that can help increase your funds at the bank.<br />
<br />
<b>Millionaire Tycoon Tips and Secrets</b> that I can share with you:<br />
<br />
<ul><li>Trade Stocks - when you make smart decisions, it can really help add additional funds.</li>
<li>Get a lawyer! I found the lawyer very helpful in the game. When you land on a particularly annoying property that drains out your cash, get your revenge by having your attorney get it for you. I usually save it for the big properties like the hotels. I let the other players upgrade the building them I get them. Harharhar!</li>
<li>It is possible to estimate the dice if you concentrate enough. You can pretty much estimate the number to be lower or higher. If you can't, just purchase the dice control. It's pretty important because:</li>
<li>A few houses on the same block costs more! The fewer steps you take on a block, the higher chance you have in making a combo score - higher payment from other players.</li>
<li>... that is why a car on Paris can be a blessing and a curse</li>
<li>Still, having big buildings on 2 adjacent blocks is simply wonderful.</li>
</ul><div>Will update you for more as I get through with the game =)<br />
If you have any questions or tips you want to share, just put it on the comments section. Happy playing!</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4374080766772041312.post-54321215044826414032011-09-01T15:18:00.000+08:002011-09-01T15:18:20.328+08:00The Wordpress Design QuestI'm on a quest to learning <a href="http://how2andreviews.blogspot.com/2011/08/my-journey-to-online-part-time-jobs.html"><b>Wordpress Design</b></a> and it ain't that easy for me who is a PHP and CSS idiot. I think I'm learning the whole concept of PHP and CSS. I just need to understand the structure now.<br />
<br />
I followed the <b><a href="http://themeshaper.com/2009/06/22/wordpress-themes-templates-tutorial/">Wordpress Tutorial</a></b> I found, but the result was with little success. I got the essential parts right - basically you just need to understand what the codes are all about and copy-paste the given codes to the appropriate files and other places. I guess, if you understand the concept and is not so much of a coding beginner like me, it's going to be so much easier. After reading some other tutorials and studying other templates, I think I'm getting it. Like I said, some understanding of PHP and CSS is what I need to do now.<br />
<br />
I wonder, <b>can I just convert an HTML/CSS design to a Wordpress theme</b>? I found that it is possible. I'm better at design and HTML than coding raw PHP so maybe I can do that and learn in the process. I'm going to try that and see how it will work for me. Stay tuned!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4374080766772041312.post-77056644168033010902011-08-31T14:03:00.000+08:002011-08-31T14:03:33.100+08:00My Journey to Online Part Time JobsAlthough a lot of my fantasies include going back time and changing everything since I was in first grade, I obviously cannot do that. So I'm <i>kinda</i> moving on.<br />
<br />
Back when I was in highschool, I got so interested in HTML and making websites that I actually self-studied how to code HTML. I never got to study it in school and regrettably, in college, but I'm still very interested in it. I've never forgotten the basics and now I'm using some of my knowledge in some of my work. <b style="color: #e06666;">I believe that if I really want to learn something, I can self-study</b> it and not spend fortunes going to special classes.<br />
<br />
Now that I'm looking for some new skills to aid me in getting part-time jobs - if not full time work - I decided to learn <b>how to create Wordpress themes</b>.<br />
<br />
That's now. It wasn't the first idea that came to mind when I started thinking of upgrading my skills and do some <b>online part time jobs</b>.<br />
<br />
<ul><li><b>Logo Design </b>- I thought that it's easier to make logo designs since I figured it's easier to do than writing jobs. I had knowledge in Photoshop and did some online tutorials when I discovered that I actually need to learn how to use Adobe Illustrator. I did some online tutorials and basically had a feel of it. HOWEVER, looking at tons of existing logo designs by professionals and amateurs told me that I need more and more skill, practice and loads of creative energy. What I lack is some creativity. I'm more of a technical person, really.</li>
<li><b>Paid Blog Posts</b> - I have an existing blog that I can use for paid blog posts. I was a member of <a href="https://payperpost.com/"><b>PayPerPost</b></a> which didn't go so well because I abandoned my blog after a while. I got some opportunities so I thought, maybe I should try it again. The problem now is that there are so many bloggers out there with a <b>.com domain name</b> and advertisers think that those who are not self-hosted are not really serious bloggers. Although I am willing to self-hosted, I feel that it's not the right time yet. I already have plans for a proper self-hosted blog but I still need to test myself. My paid blog membership still exists and will jump right at it when opportunity comes.</li>
<li><b>Freelance Job Hunt</b> - I've heard a lot of success stories on <a href="http://odesk.com/"><b>Odesk.com </b></a>so I tried to get some jobs off it. I've finished a few exams several months ago. But I haven't had a job from it. Maybe my bid was too high? or maybe the employers were turned off by the fact that I am a noob? But the search continues.</li>
<li><span style="font-size: large;"><b>Wordpress Theme Design</b></span> - And we come to the NOW. I'm not a complete idiot when it comes to site design so I thought maybe I can design wordpress themes and sell them. I can sell it for a few dollars. I've just started and I now that I will need to go along way because 1) I'm a beginner at CSS and PHP and 2) I've never done this before. But as I said, I will try my best to get into it. I have install a localserver on my computer for testing purposes and now I need to learn how to code from scratch. </li>
</ul>I will be making some posts on some tips I learned along the way (and some tips I learned from others) regarding the 4 bullet points above. I may give you tips on where to get tutorials and downloads. I hope you guys wish me luck!<br />
<br />
Are there any other online part-time jobs that you know? Can you suggest some <b>tips on how I can earn online</b>? (I don't like PTCs, though) <br />

With an exclamation point. There is one point in our life when our mothers would usually yell at us, no matter what they’re saying.<br />
<div class="MsoNormal"><br />
</div><div class="MsoNormal">Anyway, there you go. <b>Choose your friends.</b> And I hated this before because my mother never really liked any of my friends. She only liked those who were at the top of the class. If they weren’t she’d be skeptical about them and how were they going to contribute to my life.</div><div class="MsoNormal"><br />
</div><div class="MsoNormal">Yes, I didn’t listen to my mom. Although those kids who were at the top of my class were my buddies when we started, slowly I was left behind. Maybe it was a bit of rebellion that I experienced when I didn’t want to study so hard and just be a normal kid like everybody else – playing and not breathing to get the grades. While I still belonged at the top of the class, I chose to be friends with someone else.</div><div class="MsoNormal"><br />
</div><div class="MsoNormal">Now that I’m older, I look at those people who topped the class and I didn’t choose to be friends with. They are now lawyers, entrepreneurs, engineers and traveled the world. And I’m stuck in a cubicle, thinking about the next gig I could find. </div><div class="MsoNormal"><br />
</div><div class="MsoNormal">Looking at them, I thought, I should have stuck with them. I probably got their successful vibe and their thirst for excellence. Or their mere electromagnetism for luck. I am smarter than some of their friends but even they have good lives.</div><div class="MsoNormal"><br />
</div><div class="MsoNormal">Most people will probably tell you – choose your friends to avoid drugs, chemical abuse or other bad influences. We hear them over and over and sometimes we don’t hear them anymore.</div><div class="MsoNormal"><br />
</div><div class="MsoNormal">But I’m writing now, telling you to choose your friends because good friends can actually do some good in your life. If you want something to happen to your life, stick with people who have the same goal as you do. It’s good to have peers who you can walk with in that direction. They can be good support and they can also be some healthy competition along the way.</div><div class="MsoNormal"><br />
</div><div class="MsoNormal">Right now, I’m looking for people who I can begin walking with to the direction that I want and people who can hoist me up somehow. I am no genius and I’d love to listen to friendly mentors.</div><div class="MsoNormal"><br />
</div><div class="MsoNormal"><b>Tips in Summary: Choose your Friend to Success!<o:p></o:p></b></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br />
</div><ol start="1" style="margin-top: 0in;" type="1"><li class="MsoNormal"><b>Choose your friends according to the direction you want your life to go to.</b> You want to be successful? Have successful friends or friends who also want to be successful.</li>
<li class="MsoNormal"><b>Choose your friends early in life.</b> Friends are also habit-forming. If you form your good habits early on, you have more time to develop and improve.</li>
<li class="MsoNormal"><b>Choose your friends for networking and healthy competition.</b> Successful friends know successful people who can lead you to your own success. Yes, there’s too much success in this section because if you surround yourself with success, your attitude will be geared towards it!</li>
</ol><div class="MsoNormal"><br />
</div><div class="MsoNormal">How did you do with your friends? Share your story!</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4374080766772041312.post-81678256535254790622011-07-07T15:49:00.000+08:002011-07-07T15:49:45.144+08:00Things My Mama Told Me SeriesIt's really weird that now that I'm turning 25, I realize a lot of things that my mama told me when I was a lot younger<div><ul><li>things that I didn't really follow</li>
<li>things I followed only because I had to then stopped when she's not around</li>
<li>things that I thought was totally pointless because a lot of people have been doing them so why couldn't I</li>
<li>things that I didn't do only because I wanted to have my own way</li>
<li>and all those things she said I didn't do but I wish I had</li>
</ul><div>So I will be making a "Things My Mama Told Me" series because I think that most of what she told me are really cliche for mothers. Many sons and daughters must ignore those things because, right, they're cliche and we thought they only say it because that's their role in this world. Unfortunately, another fact of life is that, "It's a cliche for a reason."</div><div><br />
</div><div>You can add more! Just drop them on the comments box =) </div></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4374080766772041312.post-74248686993458901092011-06-21T22:29:00.000+08:002011-06-21T22:29:15.956+08:005 Really Important Things to Do Before Turning 25In less than 20 days from now, I’ll be turning 25. For the past years of my life, I really paid little attention to my birthday. I was never really excited and never really anticipated anything. Recently, I thought that it’s really sad that I’m almost apathetic to my birthday while others celebrate, party hard or can hardly sleep thinking of surprises and presents from loved ones. It’s a little inevitable though during birthdays that one is taken to a little journey back thinking about the life behind.<br />
<div class="MsoNormal"><br />
</div><div class="MsoNormal">I’ve always told myself, I don’t have regrets - I’m never going to have any regrets no matter how many mistakes I make in my life - simply because I believed that even mistakes are destined to happen to make me what I am in the present. However, as the day I turn 25 grow nearer, the more I unconsciously let my mind slip to the past and ask myself, “What if?”</div><div class="MsoNormal"><br />
</div><div class="MsoNormal">What if I obeyed my mother and stuck with my best friends in grade school who were always in top class? Looking at their Facebook profiles today, they all became what they had dreamed of: lawyers, business consultants, engineers, doctors, etc. - and I’m still dealing with myself.</div><div class="MsoNormal"><br />
</div><div class="MsoNormal">Some say the first 25 years of your life is meant for all the mistakes you have to make: dilly-dallying, procrastination, cutting classes, fake IDs, under age driving/drinking/smoking, casual sex and parties. As someone, turning 25, I’d rather say that the first 25 years is so crucial and should never be taken for granted. While others suggest that you do all the crazy stuff before turning 25, let me advice differently:</div><div class="MsoNormal"><br />

</div><ul style="margin-top: 0in;" type="disc"><li class="MsoNormal"><b>Know thyself. </b></li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list .5in;"><b>Figure out what you really want to do</b> with your career before you step on college.</li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list .5in;">Take several moments in your first 25 years to sit down and objectively <b>think about all the things your mother and/or father told/nagged you about</b>. You’ll pick helpful ones along the way.</li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list .5in;"><b>Learn how to manage your money</b>. Soon when your parents stop giving your allowance, you will be left to manage on your own. You will be faced with bills, student loans, mortgages, rent, etc. It’s VERY IMPORTANT to learn how to manage your money early on. Save when you can.</li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list .5in;">Yes, <b>make mistakes</b>. Have a hundred bucketloads of fun with your peers. Party hard. Laugh hard. At 25, when you have no stories to tell, you will also regret that.</li>
</ul><div class="MsoNormal"><br />
In less than 20 days, I’ll be turning 25. With this blog, I am embracing the fact that there are several things I regret and wish I did. But moving on, I hope that others following my years would be wiser before turning 25.</div><div class="MsoNormal"><br />
</div><div class="MsoNormal">To my present now, I will be taking on a little time travel and ask myself, “What will my future self regret so I can be here to change it now?” I'll let you know.</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4374080766772041312.post-68700448639266192012011-06-10T17:12:00.001+08:002011-06-10T17:12:03.341+08:00How to Stay Focused on One TaskEmployees and students alike are easily overwhelmed by the load of work and tasks that are needed to be done every single day. It becomes difficult to focus when the sole thought of the whole burden freezes the mind on “I can’t do it” mode. The tasks pile even more and the harder it is to finish. When this happens, here are some tips that you can follow to relax your mind and be able to finish your work without the extra and unnecessary stress.<br />
<div class="MsoNormal"><br />
</div><ol start="1" style="margin-top: 0in;" type="1"><li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list .5in;">Write a list of all the tasks that are needed to be done. Looking at the list could be overwhelming at first but it will help you to organize and not forget anything. List by priority.</li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list .5in;">Write the first task on the list on a separate sheet of paper. It could be a sticky note. Place the note somewhere you can easily see and be reminded off. It could be in front of your computer. Remember: Only 1 task is on the note and keep the rest of your list.</li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list .5in;">Focus on that 1 task and forget the others for the meantime. Do not stop and do not start with a new one until you’re done with that 1 task.</li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list .5in;">After 1 task, get your list and cross out the task that you have finished. Repeat step 2 for the second task. Don’t throw the first note yet. As it piles, it will remind you of the tasks you have finished which can give you encouragement as you progress. </li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list .5in;">Relax. Take a break. Have a light snack or exercise a bit. Everything will be done soon and on time when you focus and relax.</li>
</ol><div class="MsoNormal"><br />
</div><div class="MsoNormal">Repeat the process until all tasks are done.</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4374080766772041312.post-22197664387719886172011-06-07T22:47:00.000+08:002011-06-07T22:47:08.120+08:00Full-Glass-Empty<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Is the glass half-full or half-empty?</b> When I was in fourth grade, I chose half-full - only because my seatmate gave away the secret behind the psychological question. Even after I raised my hand with those who chose to be positive, I still kept thinking, is it really half-full or half empty? God knows I spent a few minutes staring at the glass drawing on the chalkboard until the teacher erased it.<br />
<div class="MsoNormal"><br />
</div><div class="MsoNormal"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">If the glass is full</b> to its brim, then what if it spills and leaves me with nothing? Yes, the glass is full but I have to guard it really well because somebody might drink it. My glass is full of water - why do I only have water? Why can’t I have a glass full of soda… or beer? Why do I have to have water and others have my favorite fresh mango shake in theirs? My glass is full but I only have one glass.</div><div class="MsoNormal"><br />
</div><div class="MsoNormal"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicW8cP8ciCuRwZrlpRHDsm-l9TO-mdGgArv20cw7uH97jso_JR2qc9LQbZgwpTMqs2jfCtoGykVc6Qft43ebUi4QLDFf9Q89_uv-utZAitUmyMarEAKuNY5GHFUobIwFNrUAGxaz6vnnz8/s1600/half-full.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicW8cP8ciCuRwZrlpRHDsm-l9TO-mdGgArv20cw7uH97jso_JR2qc9LQbZgwpTMqs2jfCtoGykVc6Qft43ebUi4QLDFf9Q89_uv-utZAitUmyMarEAKuNY5GHFUobIwFNrUAGxaz6vnnz8/s320/half-full.JPG" width="202" /></a></div><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">If the glass is empty to its butt</b>, then I can fill it to the brim. In fact, I can choose whatever I want to fill it with. Maybe I’d fill it with money than some beverage, what d’ya think? If the glass is empty… oh well, I still have a pitcher of ice cold iced tea in the fridge, just give me a sec. If I’m in the middle of the dessert and I have an empty glass, I could break the glass and use it to cut open a cactus for water.</div><div class="MsoNormal"><br />
</div><div class="MsoNormal">If the glass is half-empty/half-full, do you have more or do you have less? I guess it really doesn’t matter whether it’s full, half or empty. Robin had been jobless for months during that episode and she had already been to countless auditions to get a job in the news industry.<br />
<br />
Every time she auditions, she comes home complaining about how other auditionees got more experience than her or how they come from bigger companies or higher positions in other parts of the country. Even though she was anchor at the local news channel, she found that she couldn’t compete with many others in the same field.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" style="width: 420px;"><tbody>
<tr> <td height="44" style="border-color: #000; border-style: dashed; border-width: thick;"><div align="center"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;">Lesson # 1: There’s always someone better than you. So don’t slack!</span></div></td> </tr>
</tbody></table><br />
Even when you come from the Top 3 universities in the country, even if you’re president of every organization you’ve joined or even if you’re the creamiest of the crop, never ever slack off during job hunting. Don’t underestimate the power of others to be more awesome than you already are. Which brings us to:<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" style="width: 420px;"><tbody>
<tr> <td height="44" style="border-color: #000; border-style: dashed; border-width: thick;"><div align="center"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;">Lesson # 2: Stand Out!</span></div></td> </tr>
</tbody></table><br />
Or in Barney’s vocabulary, BE AWESOME! Don’t just be good or excellent, be awesome! You see, I’ve been an A student ever since. I got good grades and all but here’s the thing: nobody really noticed me! My teachers hardly remembered my name; and to be honest, even if I honestly knew that I was at par with the best in the batch, I wasn’t as memorable as them. And simply because… I wasn’t awesome! I didn’t join clubs or became friends with the awesome people. I didn’t like greeting my teachers or spending time with other students in my batch. I didn’t like to get the ball rolling, I watched on the sides, watching the ball roll. Yeah, I was lame. So now you know, don’t be like me - BE AWESOME!<br />
<br />
So how exactly does one stand out in the job hunting while hundreds apply for the same job?<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" style="width: 420px;"><tbody>
<tr> <td height="44" style="border-color: #000; border-style: dashed; border-width: thick;"><div align="center"><b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #e06666;">Killer Tip: Think out of the Box</span></span></b></div></td> </tr>
</tbody></table><br />
While Robin was clearly in deep trouble in job hunting, her friends decided to review her video reel to look for something there that is not making employers hire her. It was a normal reel, started out with her name and a clip from her first reporter job. After they decided it was a bit lame, the ever awesome Barney showed his own video resume:<br />
<br />
<div a="" align="center"><iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/YmYEahxWDyA?rel=0" width="425"></iframe><br />
<br />
</div>Of course none of that happened but you get the point: it’s way different and definitely eye-catching than hundreds more video resume put together.<br />
<br />
Here’s another video of someone thinking out of the box to get a job in one of the biggest companies in New York:<br />
<br />
<div align="center"><iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/7FRwCs99DWg?rel=0" width="560"></iframe><br />
<br />
</div>You can go with the usual stand-out tips like being confident or investing in your soft-skills or a power suit and they’re not at all wrong! I once took a job away because of confidence even though the manager was doubtful of my skills. But thinking out of the box to stand out will definitely get employers to look your way and remember your name.<br />

<br />
<ul><li>You got loans for an expensive house, you have mountain-high credit card debts and some other loans to pay plus of course, daily expenses including a few luxuries like going out on dates or purchasing new clothes. </li>
<li>You got all of these financial woes when suddenly, you got offered a really high-paying job that you don't really like but you know you can tolerate. </li>
<li>You decided to accept the job because it would really help your finances and it did! You go to work then receive a lot of pay. You can easily pay for you loans and mortgage (which at your rate will be finished in 10 years) and you can also afford the luxuries that you usually have.</li>
<li>However, the work load is really causing you some stress + lots of over time work including weekends which means much less time for you family or friends + your boss is like a warden from hell and screams at you and makes you feel like you've just been given the stupid-of-the-year award.</li>
<li>You thought of quitting but you're already in one of the best companies in the country and it will be really, really hard to get in other companies of its caliber that can offer you the same pay plus awesome benefits.</li>

I know… I wished one for myself when I was a student especially in my Trigonometry finals in high school. That was the only time in my life when I absolutely had no idea on an exam. I wished for some kind of math magic to be bestowed upon me even for just 20 minutes.<br />
<br />
I’ve mentioned in my previous post that we should not fall into the trap of thinking that we must have a math-genius gene or divine-given talent to become good at Math. Some thinks a person needs to be Chinese! But let me tell you a secret that I’ve learned from several Chinese people on how to be a math-genius.<br />
<br />
<strong>Lesson from the Chinese</strong><br />
<strong><br />
</strong><br />
We wonder… why is the Chinese good at Math? They invented one of the oldest calculation devices called the abacus so they really must be crazy about numbers. So many times have I heard that when someone is Chinese, people immediately think that he/she is good at Math. What is the Chinese secret to becoming Math pros?<br />
<br />
Here is an answer that you will find on the web when you Google the question: <strong>It is because of the language.</strong><br />
<strong><br />
</strong><br />
Here is a helpful table to demonstrate the difference between English and Chinese counting systems <br />
<br />
<div align="center"><table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" style="border-color: #999; border-width: thin;"><tbody>
<tr> <td valign="top" width="144"><div align="center"><strong>English</strong></div></td> <td valign="top" width="120"><div align="center"><strong>Chinese</strong></div></td> <td valign="top" width="120"><div align="center"><strong>English</strong></div></td> <td valign="top" width="120"><div align="center"><strong>Chinese</strong></div></td> </tr>
<tr> <td valign="top" width="144"><div align="center">eleven</div></td> <td valign="top" width="120"><div align="center">ten one</div></td> <td valign="top" width="120"><div align="center">thirty</div></td> <td valign="top" width="120"><div align="center">three ten</div></td> </tr>
<tr> <td valign="top" width="144"><div align="center">twelve</div></td> <td valign="top" width="120"><div align="center">ten two</div></td> <td valign="top" width="120"><div align="center">forty</div></td> <td valign="top" width="120"><div align="center">four ten</div></td> </tr>
<tr> <td valign="top" width="144"><div align="center">thirteen</div></td> <td valign="top" width="120"><div align="center">ten three</div></td> <td valign="top" width="120"><div align="center">fifty</div></td> <td valign="top" width="120"><div align="center">five ten</div></td> </tr>
<tr> <td valign="top" width="144"><div align="center">fourteen</div></td> <td valign="top" width="120"><div align="center">ten four</div></td> <td valign="top" width="120"><div align="center">sixty</div></td> <td valign="top" width="120"><div align="center">six ten</div></td> </tr>
<tr> <td valign="top" width="144"><div align="center">fifteen</div></td> <td valign="top" width="120"><div align="center">ten five</div></td> <td valign="top" width="120"><div align="center">seventy</div></td> <td valign="top" width="120"><div align="center">seven ten</div></td> </tr>
<tr> <td valign="top" width="144"><div align="center">sixteen</div></td> <td valign="top" width="120"><div align="center">ten six</div></td> <td valign="top" width="120"><div align="center">eighty</div></td> <td valign="top" width="120"><div align="center">eight ten</div></td> </tr>
<tr> <td valign="top" width="144"><div align="center">seventeen</div></td> <td valign="top" width="120"><div align="center">ten seven</div></td> <td valign="top" width="120"><div align="center">ninety</div></td> <td valign="top" width="120"><div align="center">nine ten</div></td> </tr>
<tr> <td valign="top" width="144"><div align="center">eighteen</div></td> <td valign="top" width="120"><div align="center">ten eight</div></td> <td valign="top" width="120"><div align="center">one hundred</div></td> <td valign="top" width="120"><div align="center">one hundred</div></td> </tr>
<tr> <td valign="top" width="144"><div align="center">nineteen</div></td> <td valign="top" width="120"><div align="center">ten nine</div></td> <td valign="top" width="120"><div align="center"><br />

</div></td> </tr>
<tr> <td valign="top" width="144"><div align="center">twenty</div></td> <td valign="top" width="120"><div align="center">two ten<br />
<br />
</div></td> <td valign="top" width="120"><div align="center"><br />
</div></td> <td valign="top" width="120"><div align="center"><br />
</div></td> </tr>
</tbody></table></div>If you will notice, the Chinese counting system makes more sense such as -in my opinion - it sets the foundation of basic addition and multiplication. They learn how to add and multiply the moment they learn how to count. <br />
<br />
<div align="center"><table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" style="border-color: #999; border-width: thin;"><tbody>
<tr> <td valign="top" width="106"><div align="center">ten one</div></td> <td valign="top" width="122"><div align="center">10 + 1</div></td> <td valign="top" width="108"><div align="center">eleven (11)</div></td> </tr>
<tr> <td valign="top" width="106"><div align="center">three ten</div></td> <td valign="top" width="122"><div align="center">3 x 10</div></td> <td valign="top" width="108"><div align="center">thirty (30)<br />
<br />
</div></td> </tr>
</tbody></table></div>Looks like genius, doesn’t it?<br />
<br />
<div align="center" style="color: black; font-family: 'Arial Black', Gadget, sans-serif; font-size: 24px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-large;">HOWEVER</span><br />
<br />
</div>This is not really the secret of the Chinese to becoming Math pros. Come on; let’s not blame a thousand-year old system!<br />
<br />
I have talked to several Chinese people in my life. Not all of them were raised in China but certainly grew up in Chinese rearing by their parents. It took a long time before someone shed a bright light on “the secret”.<br />
<br />
<div align="center"><table border="0" cellpadding="5" cellspacing="0"><tbody>
<tr> <td style="border-color: #000; border-style: dashed; border-width: thick;" valign="top" width="432"><div align="center"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #e06666;">We learn Math by logic. Everything is about logic and common sense</span></span></div></td> </tr>
</tbody></table></div><br />
And it all just came flooding to me like someone opened the roof to let sunshine in my dark, windowless room. My mom, who is an accountant, kept telling me since kindergarten, <b>“Focus on understanding the logic behind the problem rather than just memorizing!”</b><br />
<br />
That is why we all started learning Math with images and stories than pure numbers. One plus one is not just 1 + 1. It’s “You have one apple and a friend gave you another one.” That is why we always have problem solving questions in exams - and admit it, that part could be the most difficult part. It’s when you know how to answer the other questions because you memorized the formula but your mind gets all tangled when you see the problem in a paragraph. Understand, not just memorize. Logic.<br />
<br />
<div align="center"><strong>Problem Understanding + Formula/ Solving Techniques = Right Answer</strong><br />
<strong><br />
</strong></div>If you understand the problem, then finding the right solution is much easier. <strong>Understanding, I believe, is something that all of us possess. </strong><br />
<strong><br />
</strong><br />
<strong><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: normal;">note: for those who were waiting - no, there is no magic pill ^_^</span> </strong><br />
<strong><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: normal;"><br />
</span></strong><br />
<em>And isn’t that the same for all life’s problems? Everything has a solution. If you cannot solve the problem, it means that there is still something left to be understood. If you cannot solve the problem, maybe it means that there is another solution; maybe the formula is not right. Let’s think some more.</em>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4374080766772041312.post-32337597230133603102011-05-16T13:52:00.003+08:002011-05-19T20:38:50.469+08:00Why Students Fail at Math: The Math-is-Difficult TrapsThis post is for all the students out there who hate Math and for incoming students who haven’t really studied Math but already loathe it due to the influence of popular culture.<br />
<br />
Math is a basic subject in school that teaches how to count and make basic computations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Of course mathematics has a deeper sense, meaning and use to the world than basic computation but to avoid math anxiety here, let’s stick to that =)<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhB9XYeH8IdQq0IzBWFdnSOjOeDD6HJFLsIu9FF0zxn-fVQbI55TQ9xM5gglVRNdtNc9dqrzQtfyt4GGyN5DT28-kOk_HVzXkJQ1uJzE00qBxgWKc63wjosUURirN1dLtKd1Rg_YtZcmiBY/s1600/math-difficult.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 10px;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhB9XYeH8IdQq0IzBWFdnSOjOeDD6HJFLsIu9FF0zxn-fVQbI55TQ9xM5gglVRNdtNc9dqrzQtfyt4GGyN5DT28-kOk_HVzXkJQ1uJzE00qBxgWKc63wjosUURirN1dLtKd1Rg_YtZcmiBY/s320/math-difficult.jpg" style="margin-right: 10px;" width="159" /></a>I was not anywhere a math genius. Like most kids, I fell into the <strong>Math-is-difficult</strong> trap. And that is not the only trap many students and I fell into. Here are a few:<br />
<ol start="1" type="1"><li><strong>Being good in Math is a gift.</strong> This is the belief that being good in Math is a gift or talent and that only few are chosen to have it. Students stop trying because they’re simply not one of the “chosen ones”.</li>
<li><strong>If you’re not good in Math, you must be good in English</strong> (languages, communications, etc.) and vice-versa.</li>
<li><strong>I don’t need Math in my future career esp. because I dream of becoming a rockstar.</strong> Variations I hear students say, “Why do we need Math?”; “I am not going to use this in my daily life!” and so on.</li>
</ol>Sadly, many young people fail to understand the true significance of Math - and many teachers fail to make them understand the true reason why Math is significant. Looking back, I guess there is a little bit of truth in the idea that not all things in Math can be used by everyone in the future. But studying the basics of every aspect of Mathematics sets the foundation for the future engineers, architects, economists, etc.<br />
<br />
To tell you the truth, Math is only more difficult because students already have this grand impression that it is “difficult” before they even try to understand. The moment they see a bunch of numbers, their brains go ahead say, <strong>“Oh my God, this is what they all have been talking about *hyperventilate* I can’t do this!”</strong> The student is immediately defeated even before moving a single brain cell. That is the reason why students fail at Math. They think so, they do so.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>I had a couple of excellent Math teachers in my life that made the subject so much easier. Their common denominator: their attitude in class sets the mood that “Math is Easy.” My high school teacher’s favorite line was, “Ah, that’s easy!” “How do we solve the problem? Ah, that’s easy!” He always did that. Every single time there was a problem to solve, he would exclaim, “Ah, that’s easy!” and every time we solve math problems ourselves, we could hear him in our heads.<br />
<br />
My Finance teacher in college was not as enthusiastic but she also always said that it’s just easy. Her explanations were simple and direct to the point. <br />
<br />
Many agreed with me when I tell them that Math becomes easier depending on the teacher. It is the teacher’s job to set the mood and to explain the principles at the student’s level. However, before you start blaming all your Math teachers for your subject failure, you must read more of my tips on <strong><a href="http://the-liferookie.blogspot.com/2011/05/how-to-become-math-genius-why-chinese.html">How to Become a Math - Genius</a></strong>.<br />

<blockquote><i>“A Better Way To Teach Math” by David Bornstein at The New York Times, Opinionator.</i></blockquote><blockquote><blockquote><i>Imagine if someone at a dinner party casually announced, “I’m illiterate.” It would never happen, of course; the shame would be too great. But it’s not unusual to hear a successful adult say, “I can’t do math.” That’s because we think of math ability as something we’re born with, as if there’s a “math gene” that you either inherit or you don’t.</i></blockquote></blockquote><br />

I palpitated and broke into cold sweat whenever I had to stand for less than 10 second to recite in class. So I didn’t like class recitation and oral exams. I always whispered the answer to my seatmate and he/she got to answer the teacher’s question.<br />
<br />
I didn’t like small talk. I didn’t like speaking in front of a crowd. English is my second language and while my school tried to make us practice speaking the language in elementary by establishing English Speaking Zones, I tried my best to avoid them altogether. <strong>I didn’t realize that communication skills would be one of the most important skills that I need to learn no matter what career I want to pursue.</strong> Even when my career completely changed when I looked liked a complete idiot during that very simple interview to a BS Computer Science course, I denied to myself the fact that I needed to be more aggressive and enhance my oral skills. <br />
<br />
I only understood the importance of communications skills when I started looking for a job in senior year. Every one of the job ads required an excellent degree in oral and written communications skills. I realized that I cannot avoid job interviews and I cannot repeat the embarrassing performance I had before college.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOnuJCp3fml7nomqo394GKbVTCulPlVyeXdHAeyGzyclITqKj15wRGT8-1NA33A_WBIozoRwcWUfVVvRxkvAuGsy3k4cpA5xx5zabmwEjgPedSgal3qygGi-9qU57WdhPXvJtd3dzbsnkN/s1600/talk-afraid.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="144" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOnuJCp3fml7nomqo394GKbVTCulPlVyeXdHAeyGzyclITqKj15wRGT8-1NA33A_WBIozoRwcWUfVVvRxkvAuGsy3k4cpA5xx5zabmwEjgPedSgal3qygGi-9qU57WdhPXvJtd3dzbsnkN/s320/talk-afraid.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div align="center"><strong><br />
</strong></div><div align="center"><strong>I took a job that required a high level of English communication skill.</strong></div><div align="center"><strong><br />
</strong></div>I took an online teaching job that teaches English to ESL learners. It is a teaching job that requires the teacher to be really fluent and vibrant. It is teaching through phone so facial expressions and hand gestures won’t do well in explaining something without words. Dead air is an absolute no-no so we had to keep talking and asking relevant questions.<br />
<br />
I took a job that targeted one of my weakest points. What was I thinking then? I thought to pressure push myself into improving that skill because if I didn’t, I feared that I would not get hired in bigger companies or move up the career ladder. I would always have that big flaw, whispering in my head, “You cannot do it!” and if I went on unarmed, I would be drowned in that fear.<br />
<br />
I did improve a lot in my oral communications skills. Since then, I became less and less afraid of going to job interviews. I gained for confidence in talking to other people even though they are my seniors.<br />

Instead, I had to include my extra-curricular activities and/or seminars attended. And boy, I heard the crickets.</div><p>I didn’t have any significant extra-curricular activity. The one org I joined in college was good enough but I must admit that I never became an active member (excuse: conflicting class schedules). I scrambled through my records for any sign of certificate from seminars I have attended. I called my classmates to refresh my mind and add to the list. Truth is, I also didn’t really pay attention to any seminar in school. I only did attend because we were required.</p><p>Lucky me because when I was applying for a job, the working industry was still not as competitive as it is today. However, times have changed. Having worked in the job recruitment industry, I have seen so many job ads that require a certain degree of job experience. With that, so many fresh graduates are complaining that they can’t get any job experience because everybody wants someone with previous work.</p><p>I agree that this is a disadvantage to many who didn’t have the opportunity to work as interns before graduation. But I cannot disagree with employers who also want to hire good people, save efforts in training and move company sales fast. Here are a few tips from me:</p><br /><table width="520" align="center" cellpadding="10"><tbody><tr><td style="border-style:dashed; border-width:thick; border-color:#000;"><br /><ul type="disc"><br /><li><strong>Get active in extra-curricular activities.</strong> Clubs and organizations open you more to possibilities, networking and other activities outside the classroom. Some organizations are nationwide and they organize major events that can just open your experiences to anything.</li><br /><li><strong>Do volunteer for apprenticeship.</strong> People say that nothing is free nowadays but don’t be afraid to do volunteer jobs related to your preferred career. Volunteer as server, waiter, be an assistant to anyone you know in the industry. For sure, many will not turn down free assistance. While under apprenticeship, be highly trainable and observant for out-of-school lessons that you can pick up. Do not be shy to ask for advice and future referrals.</li><br /><li><strong>Get online and home-based jobs.</strong> It a new era now. People can get online jobs especially those that are related to IT, programming, software development and you can get a ton of jobs related to SEO, link building and online content writing. If you are interested in these areas, browse the web for online jobs portal like <strong><a href="http://odesk.com/">Odesk.com</a></strong>. I have heard so much about them and had a few friends who became quite a success in this.</li><br /><li><strong>Get your thing off your seats and actually do something!</strong> It’s probably one of my biggest mistakes at one point or another. </li><br /></ul></td></tr></tbody></table><blockquote><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#333399;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;"><b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:large;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#333399;">"As you grow older, you'll find the only things you regret are the things you didn't do."</span></span></b></span></div><blockquote style="text-align: center;"> - Zachary Scott</blockquote><blockquote style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://i1137.photobucket.com/albums/n514/theliferookie/assistsponge.gif" width="326" height="250"></blockquote></blockquote>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4374080766772041312.post-89135618250460088162011-05-10T14:10:00.005+08:002011-05-16T13:54:36.840+08:00Staring at my Resume: Lesson #1<table style="border-bottom-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); border-bottom-style: dashed; border-bottom-width: thick; border-left-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); border-left-style: dashed; border-left-width: thick; border-right-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); border-right-style: dashed; border-right-width: thick; border-style: initial; border-top-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); border-top-style: dashed; border-top-width: thick; border-width: initial; float: right; font-size: 13px; margin-left: 10px; width: 250px;"><tbody>

<li>Dated info (i.e educational background) must be written from most recent down to past records.</li>
<li>Glam up on achievements!</li>
</ul></td> </tr>
</tbody></table>The first important thing in one’s career that I learned dawned on me when I was staring at my resume template - it gave me a blank stare while I sit in front of my computer monitor. I thought, <strong>“I should have seen what a resume looks like when I was 10 years old!”</strong><br />
<strong><br />
</strong><br />
I was about to graduate at that time and because I wanted to be ahead of the newly-graduates pack, I decided to look for a job early. Looking for work all starts with a piece of paper: <strong>THE RESUME</strong> and I must tell you, it will force you to travel back in time, asking yourself, “What have I done?”<br />
<br />
The first part of resume writing is easy. You have to fill out your personal information. The name and the contact details are the most important. The resume template I copied from also stated height, weight, birthday and religion. I promptly deleted those details now.<br />
<br />
Educational background also came as a breeze. Schools, university and date attended. Well I had to count back the years a few times just to be sure.<br />
<br />
Then… what next? I had to state achievements. It wasn’t very difficult because while I didn’t gain much academic achievement in highschool, I had some academic awards when I was in the university including a Cum Laude and an opportunity to be an exchange student in another country while I was senior. But are they enough? Are they enough compared to others from my batch who have joined several competitions and won them?<br />
<br />
Many will argue that scholastic achievements are not important and that everyone is leveled in the working industry. This could be one of the biggest myths that any student should never listen to. Yes, everyone begins at the bottom in terms of career but achievements boost your image when employers start reading your resume in less than 30 seconds.<br />
<br />
If you cannot achieve something when you were studying, what can you achieve from hereon? Where are your proofs that you are hardworking, can be easily trained and has discipline under pressure? <br />
<br />
Children, it’s a competitive world out there.<br />

Why I have stopped blogging, I'm not sure. I thought it was ceasing to write my thoughts because suddenly, I became afraid of my words. Not that they're bad, they just suddenly became frightening. And when you are frightened with words, there is a certain level of constraint - the feeling of being in prison in some way.<div><br /></div><div>Then another is that... there was/is difficulty for me to stay in a niche. When a blog has no niche nowadays, it just floats somewhere in the middle of millions of blogs and websites on the web now. It's like a light pole on a crowded street - it brings light, alright, but nobody really notices it for its presence or its worth.</div><div><br /></div><div>Now... there's just been a lot going through my head. I want to share with you my journey, my career and my learnings in life. Not now when Starbucks created a new generation of coffee drinkers which includes just about anyone who can afford a $4 coffee drink.</p> <p face="trebuchet ms" class="MsoNormal">So if it’s a $4 coffee, how was Starbucks able to change the coffee culture into a “coffee <i style="">addicted </i>culture”?</p><p face="trebuchet ms" class="MsoNormal"><br /></p><span style="font-weight: bold; color: rgb(255, 153, 0);">First of all: The Starbucks VISION</span><span style=""><span style="font-weight: bold;"><span style="color: rgb(255, 153, 0);"> </span> </span><br /></span><p face="trebuchet ms" class="MsoNormal"><span style=""> </span>Starbucks’ vision is not to be just another coffee shop but it was made to be “the most recognized and respected brand in the world”. Even its Starbucks logo of the siren was not a simple picture thought out of a whiff. The founders’ creative partner, Terry Heckler, thought that their coffee must be able to lure customers as much as the siren was able to seduce sailors according to mythology.<br /></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in; font-family: trebuchet ms;">True enough, in 2003, Starbucks Corp. was recognized as one of 100 “Strongest Global Brands” and in 2006, it was awarded as the fourth among the “World’s Most Influential Brands”. Those are only two of their numerous recognitions among other awards that they have received in individual countries not only for their successful chain but also because of their work ethics and effective management.</p> <p face="trebuchet ms" class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p> <p style="font-family: trebuchet ms; font-weight: bold; color: rgb(204, 102, 0);" class="MsoNormal">CAFFEINE INDULGENCE</p> <p face="trebuchet ms" class="MsoNormal"><span style=""> </span>This is the age when we must have more hours of work than sleep. People do not drink coffee much for flavor but for the caffeine boost to start the day. Study shows that Starbucks coffee has much more caffeine content than any other available express coffee. The results from Central Analytical Laboratories reported that a 16-ounce (grande) Starbucks house blended coffee has 223 milligrams of caffeine. It’s just perfect for the working class who needs to kick start their gears for the workload ahead.</p> <p style="font-family: trebuchet ms;" class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p> <p style="font-family: trebuchet ms; font-weight: bold; color: rgb(153, 153, 0);" class="MsoNormal">TASTY BLENDS</p> <p style="font-family: trebuchet ms;" class="MsoNormal"><span style=""> </span>Top quality coffee plus flavor. Caramel Macchiato. Java Chip Frappuccino. Peppermint Hot Chocolate. Strawberries and Crème Frappuccino. Caffè Mocha.</p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in; font-family: trebuchet ms;">It’s not only the high-content of caffeine that is getting us addicted here but the way Starbucks blend it in the perfect way that we enjoy. One of Starbucks’ house motto is “we’ll make your coffee perfect for you” and that’s just what they do. Starbucks introduce different flavors every year to get the consumer attention. Particularly in holiday seasons, they bring out new Christmas blends that everyone has just got to try. Moreover, Starbucks lets you choose you customize your drink. You choose your espresso, your syrup, your kind of milk, and modify other things like making your coffee extra hot or choose not to have the whipped cream—your choice. Just say it, they make it.<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2yDz_VAs7mLvJWNTT7x5ECXxlzsr54zHdIVywuGxQ7NslfMdVNXjovsxR_giwXPzEamCtdMFzwoXkWD0VQN4NOiL3sbrI1iacWXXL-1Qmia0HMocrn2TeheJcpRul11t5CNAvxd2sL_g/s1600-h/starbucks.bmp"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 273px; height: 273px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2yDz_VAs7mLvJWNTT7x5ECXxlzsr54zHdIVywuGxQ7NslfMdVNXjovsxR_giwXPzEamCtdMFzwoXkWD0VQN4NOiL3sbrI1iacWXXL-1Qmia0HMocrn2TeheJcpRul11t5CNAvxd2sL_g/s320/starbucks.bmp" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5412342588783732226" border="0" /></a></p> <p style="font-family: trebuchet ms;" class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p> <p style="font-family: trebuchet ms; font-weight: bold; color: rgb(204, 102, 0);" class="MsoNormal">STARBUCKS: OUR HOME</p> <p style="font-family: trebuchet ms;" class="MsoNormal"><span style=""> </span>It’s the ambience too that keeps us getting back for more. Each café branch around the world exudes a cozy yet sophisticated feeling. Its comfortable seats and sofas, a rack of updated newspapers and magazines, the wooden cottage atmosphere with its autumn colors, a wide selection of pastry and cake, the aroma of brewing coffee and selected music—don’t they just sound like home? <span style=""> </span>People come to talk and discuss matters from business to love life in the comforts of the café just like we do in our own sitting rooms. If coffee is the Starbucks’ siren, surely their café is the island where people would want to stay.<o:p></o:p></p> <p style="font-family: trebuchet ms;" class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p> <p style="font-family: trebuchet ms;" class="MsoNormal"><span style=""> </span>In 2006, Starbucks and Apple joined hands as Starbucks Hear Music titles could also be bought from the iTunes Store. Not only could Starbucks music be heard in their shops but the idea of Starbucks would surely follow peeps anywhere on their iPods. You wouldn’t just be contented by hearing the music; you would want to actually be there for the overall experience.</p> <p style="font-family: trebuchet ms;" class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p> <p style="font-family: trebuchet ms; font-weight: bold; color: rgb(255, 102, 0);" class="MsoNormal">WI-FI ACCESS</p> <p style="font-family: trebuchet ms;" class="MsoNormal"><span style=""> </span>Starbucks know their target market would absolutely love coffee while working. While it attracts customers to bring in their laptops to work or even just to enjoy surfing, the wi-fi access also makes people stay longer and order more cups. With this great addition to the services of Starbucks, it just feels like everything about comfort and convenience is what Starbucks is all about. You just never thought that working could be as quite comfortable as it is in Starbucks.<o:p></o:p></p> <p style="font-family: trebuchet ms;" class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p> <p style="font-family: trebuchet ms; font-weight: bold; color: rgb(255, 102, 0);" class="MsoNormal">STARBUCKS EVERYWHERE</p> <p style="font-family: trebuchet ms;" class="MsoNormal"><span style=""> </span>Another plus to the convenience factor is that Starbucks is everywhere, anywhere and, with 24 hour branches, we can add any time. Starbucks branches appear anywhere in densely populated areas, in business districts and in about every corner. The company has been criticized by this marketing technique that holds off competitors. However, Starbucks is unstoppable and its consumers do not complain, rather happy that they do not have to go far for their latte.<o:p></o:p></p> <p style="font-family: trebuchet ms;" class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p> <p style="font-family: trebuchet ms; font-weight: bold; color: rgb(255, 102, 0);" class="MsoNormal">IT’S A TREND</p> <p style="font-family: trebuchet ms;" class="MsoNormal"><span style=""> </span>Despite its popularity, Starbucks has kept its pride as being a high-end brand. It’s mentioned quite a lot in TV shows and even movies. In <i style="">The Devil Wears Prada, </i>one scene required the assistant, Andrea, to fetch Starbucks for her famous editor-in-chief, Miranda. <st1:place st="on">Hollywood</st1:place> celebrities are also fans like Lindsay Lohan, Mary Kate and Ashley and Britney Spears are just to name a few.<br /></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in; font-family: trebuchet ms;">Just carrying a Starbucks coffee cup has become quite a trend, moreover as Starbucks also sells mugs and tumblers with the Starbucks logo. Tumblers go in colorful designs; steel tumblers go for the more serious ones and a design-it-your-own tumbler for others.<br /></p> <p style="font-family: trebuchet ms;" class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p> <p style="font-family: trebuchet ms;" class="MsoNormal"><span style=""> </span>Caffene, flavor, ambience, music, technology, convenience, service and trend—that’s what you’re getting at with your $4 Starbucks coffee. Many say that “it’s just coffee” and not worth spending your $4 for. Now you know why, it won’t be too surprising now when we change the coffee culture to <span style="font-weight: bold; color: rgb(255, 153, 0);">“Starbucks culture”</span>.<o:p></o:p></p>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4374080766772041312.post-5893255258812330092009-12-01T22:44:00.000+08:002011-08-22T10:14:58.784+08:00Super Mario gets Broken Hearted<div>Super Mario ain't so super in this very short and simple comic strip.
